Broseley In Bloom

UPDATED

The first committee meeting of the year was held by Broseley in Bloom recently. After a period of intense cold and snow it seemed an optimistic thing to be planning ahead for the summer and that is just what the well-attended gathering did.

The successes of last year were discussed to devise ways of improving on them. It was decided to run the competition programme again, with a few small changes, as it had proved so popular. During the judging last year so many hidden gems were revealed amongst the gardens of Broseley, for all to admire.

The colour scheme for the hanging baskets and planters will be the same as 2009. It was felt that they had been bright and cheerful and created great impact on the street scenes of the town, bringing much enjoyment to townsfolk, many of whom added their own flashes of colour in a variety of ways.

After much discussion an idea for a brand new, exciting event to be held in the summer was felt to be something for the whole community to enjoy. While it is being explored this project is under wraps, so watch this space !

Never let it be said that Broseley in Bloom rests on its laurels, so let’s look forward to another fulfilling gardening season.

With spring now here the Broseley in Bloom committee are busy coming up with new plans for this season .Hopefully to the relief of some town centre residents a new, quieter pump is to be fitted to the bowser which is used to water the hanging baskets and planters, which should be a relief in the early morning.

A much fuller programme of competitions is planned for the summer, with the following categories to be included :

Best Front Garden

Best Frontage

Best container

Best Business Premises

Best Vegetable Plot

Best Junior Garden

It is hoped that there is something for everyone there and that lots of people with green fingers will be entering.

If anyone would like to help keep Broseley blooming this year there will be regular working parties meeting for about an hour or so to keep the town looking good. The first of these are on Wednesday the 6th of May, meeting in the library car park.. All help will be much appreciated.
