Friendly Bus AGM

Thank you to everyone who attended, we had a good turnout which meant we met our minimum quorum. It was great to see so many of our Broseley members travelling into Much Wenlock for the event. Those attending were given a copy of our Annual Report but for those who didn’t attend we are happy to provide a copy as well – just let Marie or Julie know if you want one.

MINI BUS DEMO DAY

Thanks very much to those of you who were able to come along to our mini bus demo day last week. We think it was really successful and we received a lot of useful comments from passengers and drivers which will help us choose the right type of bus and its different features.

If you weren’t able to attend then it’s not too late to let us have your thoughts and comments so please either call or write to us before the end of the month.

The main points raised so far have been:

16 seats; comfortable seats with high backs; rear lift; pull down step to side door; step low to ground; lighter colour scheme; grab handle at top of lift; rear parking sensor; luggage rack; folding seats for wheelchair access.

Regular Trips:

Seats must be booked in advance on a first come, first served basis.  Local journeys cost £1 (single or return) or £2.50 between Broseley and Much Wenlock, but if you have a bus pass you can use it on the Friendly Bus for local and regular journeys (but not day trips).  We will pick up in Broseley and Much Wenlock unless otherwise stated.  Departure times are approximate.  The actual time will vary according to the number of passengers and where they will be travelling from.  Pick-up times will be confirmed after you have booked. * = This trip for Friendly Bus members only.

Monday 2nd 16th 30th August 2 – 4pm  Jackfield Monday Club

* Mondays 7pm – 9.15pm  Broseley to Much Wenlock and back, for Bingo at the Priory Hall or visiting in Broseley or Much Wenlock.

* Tuesdays 9.30am - 12.00 The Friendly Bus will bring you into Much Wenlock (for shopping, pensions, doctor’s appointments, etc.) and take you home again.  We will pick people up from up to 3 miles around Much Wenlock centre, cost £1 (or from Broseley into Much Wenlock, cost £2.50)

Tuesday 17th August  2.30pm  Broseley Cinema is showing ‘Singing in the Rain’ at the Birchmeadow Centre

Tuesdays  7.30pm - 9.15pm - Bingo at the Victoria Hall, Broseley (Bingo Club members only) & Broseley Social Club (Friendly Bus members only)

* Wednesdays 10am -2pm There are sometimes seats available to Much Wenlock (cost as Tuesdays)

* Thursdays   10am – 12: The Friendly Bus will bring you into Broseley (for shopping, pensions, doctor’s appointments, etc.) and take you home again.  We will pick people up from Benthall, Barrow, Jackfield and Broseley Wood.

* Fridays 10am – 1.30pm There will be a trip to Telford and Wellington, cost £4.  We stop at Shopmobility in Telford for those who want to hire a free powered scooter or a wheelchair (this also needs to be booked in advance – ring Telford 238005).

Movement & Exercise Classes (gentle)

Every Monday 11.30 – 12.45 at the Methodist Hall

Cost £3 incl tea/coffee and biscuits

Saturday 7th August – Jackfield Bingo  7pm

Swimming Club – Marie is talking with Much Wenlock Leisure Club about having a regular slot starting in September.

Friday 6th August - Friendly Bus Fundraising Stall under the Corn Exchange in Much Wenlock.

* Our new monthly trip to Penkridge Market is still very popular and our next trip is on 4th August (full). The trip in on 1st September is also full. We are also taking bookings on the trip for 6th October. The cost is £5 if you don’t have a bus pass.

* Our regular monthly trip to Wolverhampton Market will be on Wednesday 18th August 10am – 2pm. The cost is £6 if you don’t have a bus pass.

Let’s Get Together club meets every other Friday at the Methodist Church Hall, Broseley. This month on 13th and 27th August, 2pm – 4pm.
