Eco Bag

The Broseley Eco - Friendly bag started its life on the BroseleyOnline forum way back in March. Here is the actual Post from Sue Taylor:

Eco Friendly Bags For The Town Of Broseley

By suespoems on Thu Mar 13, 2008 11:13 pm

With all the talk of charging for plastic carrier bags do you think Broseley should have their own Eco friendly shopping bags?

Would you buy one if this was an option and ditch the plastic bag? I would like to be involved in doing something for the town and helping the environment and came up with an idea to design an Eco friendly bag for Broseley maybe we could involve school children to design one?

Would any business sponsor me to get the first bags made? Would anyone else like to help me with this project if Broseley agrees?

I think it would be good for the town to do something like this, please let me know your thoughts?

Best Wishes
 Sue Taylor

From this point on Sue’s life and mine was going to change!

Within a week we had found three sponsors (Oakley Arnold LTD, Downes Green Grocer, Simon Gibbons Butchers) With the money secured and the bag sample in our hands all we needed was a design to put on the front of the bag.

BroseleyOnline launched a competition for all the local children to design a logo for the bag.

“Make it big bold and one colour with a Broseley Theme”

The winner would receive an ipod as a prize donate by yours truly!

We had over 80 entries and we finally picked out a winner, Emma Youngmen Age 11

That was way back in June. After 100’s of phone calls & much legwork it’s finally here, On Saturday the 7th of September 2008 the Broseley Bag will go on sale at Downes Green Grocer and Simon Gibbons Butchers.

It’s been a long journey that Sue and I have enjoyed every moment of!

From Sue and myself I hope you like the Eco Bag
