The Forum has one subject that never seems to go away. Dog mess!
Malcolm Goddard Community Support Officer wrote this in the forum…
I conducted a joint patrol with a member of staff from Bridgnorth District Council to check on the level of litter and dog mess on the streets of Broseley.
In general the streets were relatively clean and mess free, although I know as well as everyone else that there IS litter and dog mess ruining the appearance of some parts of the town.
We approached several dog walkers and politely enquired if they had a bag on them to clear up any “deposits” that their dogs may produce - every single one of them had a bag or two and were more than happy to show them. This appears to confirm what I already thought, the majority of dog owners are responsible and make sure they do the right thing and pick up after their dogs.
It was a successful patrol and I hope that word gets around that the Council and the Police are actively looking for that small number of people who do not have the decency to clear up after themselves or their dogs and then trying to educate them. If education and warnings fail, there is the option of issuing a Fixed Penalty Notice (£80!) for offenders (Always a last resort, I would far rather the mess was picked up and dealt with sensibly).
And can I also use this Forum to say a big thankyou to Dave, our local Street Cleansing warden, for his tireless efforts in keeping Broseley as clean and tidy as he can - cheers Dave.
