Grand Charity Concert
presented by
Friends of Conakry Refugee School
Saturday, 23rd January, 2010
Birchmeadow Centre, Broseley

Broseley-based charity Friends of Conakry Refugee School invites you to drive away the winter gloom with an evening of sparkling entertainment in this, our fourth annual Grand Charity Concert. As in previous years this concert will showcase some really wonderful local talent, including folk trio Flaxenby with a lovely acoustic set to delight your ears, drumming group The Democratic Republic of Djembe with some driving African rhythms to tempt you to dance in the aisles and the ever exciting Driftwood with a set of jazzed up blues to send you home with a song in your heart. There will also be featured spots from Luka’s Night Out, William Brookes Sixth Form Music Group and the Bridgnorth Writers’ Group.

Every penny raised will go to the Conakry Refugee School in Guinea, West Africa which provides an education and hope for a positive future for 500 refugee children forced to flee from their homes in neighbouring Sierra Leone and Liberia to escape the brutal civil wars being fought there.

As each of the three previous concerts has sold out early booking is advised.

Starts: 7:30 pm (until 10:30). Bar (with real ale) open till 11:30

Admission: £10.00.
